This year, we inducted Richard Comely to The Giants of the North: The Canadian Cartooning Hall of Fame. Comely is best known as the co-creator and driving force behind Captain Canuck, the iconic Canadian superhero celebrating his 50th anniversary in 2025.

This year, we inducted Lou Skuce (1886–1951) to The Giants of the North: The Canadian Cartooning Hall of Fame. Known as Canada's Greatest Cartoonist, Skuce was known for his newspaper and advertising work, particularly in the world of sport. Read more at: www.taddlecreekmag.com/canadas-grea...

This year’s best book award went to I’m So Glad We Had This Time Together, by Maurice Vellekoop, published by Random House Canada. Maurice was inducted into The Giants of the North: The Canadian Cartooning Hall of Fame in 2024. A showing of his work is currently showing at RAID Gallery, in Toronto.

Congratulations to Boum, the winner of this year’s Nipper: The Doug Wright Award for emerging talent. Boum won based on her book The Jellyfish (the English translation of La méduse), published by Pow Pow Press. Her book Boumeries Vol. 9 was nominated for the Pigskin Peters award in 2020.

Congratulations to Patrick Allaby, the winner of this year’s Pigskin Peters: The Doug Wright Award for best small- or micro-press book for his self-published Customer Service. Patrick's book The Life I Want was nominated for the Pigskin Peters in 2023.

This Saturday, we're back at the Arts & Letters Club, 14 Elm Street, for the 21st annual Doug Wright Awards! Doors (and bar) open at 7 and the show starts at 8. The bar is open after the show. This is a free event, open to everyone. No tickets; no R.S.V.P. See you there!
