The message to ourselves is just as important: we are "we the people," we are not daunted, we will continue to resist. Demonstrations like this encourage people they're not alone, encourage in the literal sense of instilling courage, breed a sense of solidarity, let us see ourselves.....
I am pretty sure the people have spoken. This isn't what we want. And the whole point of this weekend? A message to our current president: No Kings. You work for us, not the other way around.
Trump declares war on cities

“We must expand efforts to detain & deport Illegal Aliens in America’s largest Cities, such as LA, Chicago, & NY, where Millions of Illegal Aliens reside. These, & other Cities, are core of the Dem Power Center, where they use Illegal Aliens to expand their Voter Base”

Rand Paul: "When you kill someone, if you're not in a declared war, you really need to know someone's name at least. You have to accuse them of something. You have to present evidence. So all of these people have been blown up without any evidence of a crime."

No Kings Denver speaker Joe Salazar (fmr Dem state rep) tells me they estimate 25-30k gathered in Denver today, similar to the No Kings protest earlier this year. This view is from photographer Cheney Orr for the New York Times. #copolitics

Meanwhile this afternoon (9/10/25), two students at Evergreen, CO, High School have been shot by a still-at-large assailant (as of 2:10 MT). We pass that school regularly on our way to a hiking trailheads. Let's hope the shooter is stopped and the students survive to a full recovery.

I hope Charlie Kirk recovers quickly then, like James Brady, uses his megaphone to help advocate for common sense limits on firearms.

I despise Charlie Kirk and every hateful thing he stands for, but today’s shooting was truly horrific. Violence is NEVER the answer.

For those not following the drama earlier, it's for sharing this piece advocating for nonviolence (but not being judgy about how targeted people respond either). And saying some things about governmental/ institutional violence.
Some Notes on the City of Angels and the Nature of Violence

All fascists are dangerous. I don't know if competent or incompetent ones are more. But Hegseth sharing secret military plans with the Atlantic editor clearly marks him as incompetent.

The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

As a hard-news journalist at The Washington Post, there's no shortage of important news to cover. I will keep digging in.

As I've stated before:

Nothing changes. We ask hard questions and hold those in power to account. That's the job, whether those in power like it or not.

I still have not felt encroachment on my journalism on the news side, but if Bezos tries interfering with the news side I will be quitting immediately and letting you know

How to contact Republican members of Congress? All have restricted email or contact only to their constituents, never minding that they're happy to take money from anyone, including Russians and Saudis. Below is what happens if you try contacting Mike Johnson who will not hear from 330M Americans.

2/2 I also met with Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Chair, House Education and Workforce Committee, where the mood was quite different. Also with Bobby Scott (D-VA), Ranking Member of the House Education Committee. I think of all this today as we face a promoter of fake wrestling as the new Sec of Ed.
