One I already posted about, my Red Box D&D was burned in a fireplace by a friend's mom. My friend had borrowed it.
The other: A friend's dad was a minister, and was concerned about D&D, so we played in his church in front of him, & he changed his mind.

The only casualty was my D&D Red Box set, which a friend borrowed, and his mother tossed in the fire because it was evil.
However, it did force me to buy the hardcover books of AD&D First Edition, which I had been avoiding doing, so, it worked out okay.
