Wearing various layers of grays and blacks, with a white wolf pelt draped over the shoulders. Silver leaves and moons adorn the sides of the bodice and skirt. My left hand clutches a walking stiff, split partway down the middle to show plant growth inside of it. A black belt around my waist has hanging from it a flap pouch lined with white-brown rabbit fur, a net bag rolled into a holder, and a small fan of brown & white feathers. Atop my head is a headpiece consisting of beige leaves, dried branches, white flower blooms, and dangling black leaves & ferns. A silver crescent moon sits in the middle of the headpieces' arrangement. The hair is black overlapping braids, tied back. The top half of my face is painted gray with a black druidic symbol drawn on the forehead, with the lower half of the face and going down the chest painted white, and gray lipstick. Sources for costume pieces: Garments: HolyClothing Headpiece: Nefarious Creations Belt: Talismana Designs Accessories: Folk Of The Wood, Embercraft Creations, Beckalyn's Masquerade Walking stick: Thorstruck Another picture, now holding the walking stick in a raised position in both hands, as if about to use it as a weapon. My right side turned to the camera, looking to that same side straight ahead. The angle also shows the hair going from black in the front, to an ombre gray-white towards the back. My left side partially turned towards the camera, looking off to the side. Both hands are gripping the top of my walking stick for balance.

Cosplaying in public How to navigate stares from normies when you’re dressed like a cartoon. Questions from strangers Strangers may ask if there’s an event going on, what you’re dressed as etc. I often just tell people if it’s a simple answer, however if it’s not I have a few go-to “excuses” to avoid getting into it with people, like: - school project - photoshoot - birthday party Feeling the eyes on you Seeing people stare at you or feeling people’s eyes on you in a public spaces can be distressing. A distraction can be helpful. I usually take out my phone and text a friend, look around on social media, play a game, call someone or PRETEND to call someone… having something to engage with makes me feel more confident. Easier in groups Of course there is safety in numbers, so if you can travel in a group with other cosplayers (or a non-cosplaying friend) that can feel a lot better! If you’re heading to an event connect with friends to plan the trip together.

Not giving credit where credit is due is such childish and selfish behavior in the cosplay community. Credit who made your wig or cosplay. Credit who took and or edited your photos. Credit where your patterns or files came from. Credit who helped you with makeup or construction. It’s not hard.
