An aside - I won a gold medal in Gallic singing that summer. I was in the 'adult' age group - the only adult competitor. It was so kind of them to award me a gold medal - in spite of the lack of competition. Catriona said my pronunciation was weak but I could sing awfully well.

Thank you! I learned a bit different lyrics but same story - learned it from Catriona Parsons (Lewis) - a family of crofters for the Harris Mill. Said she didn't speak English until she was 10 - a great singer with PhD was in Linguistics. This was at the Gaelic College, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

A question. Ages ago (50 years) I learned to sing Cumha Mhic Criomainn (spelling is ?). The first verse (the only verse I remember) mentions the face of Cuillin - might these be the same hills you picture here?
