A Tennessee woman is studying to be a nurse and works nights cleaning buildings. ICE recently deported her husband, leaving her alone with three kids and another child on the way. She's about to lose her car and home. Would you consider donating to help?

The same is true in how local elections work.

—0 article in the New York Times this spring about the reelection of Philadelphia's reform DA (and arguably the most famous reform DA in the country), Larry Krasner.
—Quite different last fall when LA's reform DA lost.
It's pretty notable that mainstream, establishment discourse never ever ever considers giving liberal politicians credit for crime reductions. It's almost axiomatic that if crime goes down under a center-left leader it's either unremarked upon, or must be driven by something else.

This is a major win for public health.

Same. It has eroded what was once useful work tools too - Microsoft should sue whoever updated their suite for the last 10 yrs.
I just want 'ai' to go away. The simultaneous widespread poisoning of knowledge; attempt to end-run professions that cultivate critical thinking; and sucking the joy out of everything while ramming unwanted technology down our throats is so exhausting. I just can't anymore.

"Be water" tactics can work like a dance.

Protesters block a car, the loudspeaker says "move", the car calls for backup, the backup takes 5 minutes to arrive, an arrest team assembles and awaits orders, the orders are given...

And the crowd melts away. They get back in the car and then, same thing

There are well-tested, nonviolent urban tactics for slowing down police operations.

Many tactics require people to spread out rather than everyone clustering around the action. Shutting down vehicle ingress/egress.
