I think PREY is the best Predator film (and I saw the original in the theater in 1987), but my god does PREDATOR: BADLANDS look ass.

Thank goodness that the people will finally have a prequel in a film series that is the cinematic equivalent of Big Macs dusted with Pixie Stix. This will certainly make cinema vital again.

I’m sparking debate with my claim linking Donald Trump’s existence to lightning strikes at shit pits at pig farms, but scientists say the evidence is lacking.
I'm sparking debate with my claim that Stephen Miller is the result of cross-breeding a stick figure and a bedbug, but scientists say the evidence is lacking.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is sparking debate with claims linking circumcision and Tylenol to autism, but scientists say the evidence is lacking.

Here’s what the science actually says:

Surely a minority position, but ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER isn’t *that* good. Like all of Anderson’s films after THERE WILL BE BLOOD, it feels remote not as a Kubrickian aesthetic but rather as a lack of purpose. 1/2

Nixon was paranoid and thin-skinned, but he didn’t necessarily disdain democracy. The Trump administration is comprised entirely of those who disdain for democracy for one reason or another.
Even in his most fevered, drunken dreams, Richard Milhous Nixon couldn't possibly have even imagined doing a tenth of this shit.

Only an administration intent on committing war crimes in the present and future would stoop to calling Wounded Knee a "battle" rather than what it truly was: a massacre of over 250 Lakotas, mainly women, children, and the elderly. 1/

The wounded knee thing is really Trumpism distilled to its essence. It’s not enough to be able crush people who can’t fully defend themselves, it’s not enough to actually crush them, you also have to love and admire those who do the crushing otherwise the Trumpists’ delicate feelings are injured

As an AAUP member, I’m disappointed by the pusillanimous suggestions they made. I’m confident my contract would protect me, but it’d be good if the national union did more to support rather than hide academic freedom.
You know things are rough when the AAUP's advice on how to use social media is just "set all your accounts to private."
The @aaup.org just shared guidance for academic workers on how to protect themselves online www.aaup.org/news/advisor...

We always let the right define the appropriate boundaries of discourse. That needs to stop.
I am having a hard time reconciling "Charlie Kirk was a fierce advocate of open dialogue and free expression" with "we must identify and persecute everyone who is insufficiently mournful"
After Charlie Kirk's death, teachers and professors nationwide fired or disciplined over social media posts
At least a dozen faculty and staff have faced fallout over insensitive comments online.

Remember when SNL would mock “Fox & Friends” by making Brian Kilmeade an imbecilic but harmless clod? Here Kilmeade says the mentally ill should accept enforced incarceration or receive “involuntary lethal injection—just kill them.” Kilmeade & his ilk aren’t benign fools; they are hateful bigots.

What a load of shit. To Klein, Kirk’s message was irrelevant because he promulgated it “the right way.” Never mind that his message excused political violence. Never mind that he targeted those who thought or looked differently. He just did so on college campuses, so it’s all good! Fuck Ezra Klein.

Charlie Kirk did not deserve today, no matter how vile his impact on our nation. But let’s not pretend he isn’t culpable in this, or in the high school shooing earlier today. 1/2

I wish we had better protest rock — something to animate the resistance. Rage Against the Machine broke up 20+ years ago, and even their most iconic song is too easily co-opted by the right: “fuck you I won’t do what you tell me” works just as well coming out of alt-right mouths.
