it's because people like summers get treated like they are some sort of symbol/sole bulwark of world historical economic stability that they get away with corruption and abuse. Maybe we should treat them as shitty people instead?

just completely on message, just using trump as a prop. you love to see it.
Working people have been left behind in New York. In the wealthiest city in the world, one in five can't afford $2.90 for the train or bus. As I told Trump today— it’s time to put those people right back at the heart of our politics.

Remember: The oligarchs who control our economy and democracy seek to divide us so they can become more powerful.

They want us to turn on each other so we don't look up and see where all the wealth and power have gone.

Don't fall for it.

Summers created the financial dereg that destroyed the global economy & then got to cash in on Wall St & keep his fancy academic & media credentials - so inside that culture of elite impunity, he had no reason to think he couldnt also get away with soliciting sex pest advice from Rape Island's owner

Q: “Speaker Johnson is calling on the Senate to make revisions because he says it's doesn't adequately protect survivors.”

REPUBLICAN REP. MASSIE: “That's a red herring. The survivors have always been in favor of this legislation. He's trying to save face after opposing this.”

The biggest problem in American society is that there are literally zero financial, political, electoral or social status consequences for committing crimes or being wrong & participating in harming people - as long as you retain a lanyard with a fancy media, government or corporate credential.

I think Americans are realizing that democracy is a participation sport, and the the government is ours if we want it to be. I feel like we got complacent and hoped some other third party would do the work for us. Seems like we have to learn that lesson every generation.

UPDATE: Since launching our own methane-tracking satellite earlier this year, California has helped close 10 large methane leaks in our state.

That pollution reduction is roughly the same as taking 18,000 gas-powered cars off the road for an entire year.
California is moving forward with a groundbreaking satellite project to track and reduce methane emissions.

With this innovative technology, we’ll be able to move faster to cut methane emissions — protecting Californians and tackling harmful pollution.

All the protest, noncompliance, and institutional pushback that has been “useless” or “hasn’t worked.”has cumulative, indirect effects. Not just in this instance but in every social movement one can name. That is literally how political and social change happens. There is no Avengers Endgame moment.

The Epstein emails have damaged Trump beyond repair, because the public has now seen the gross moral rot behind Trump's presidency and the elites who prop it up (and fawned over a convicted sex creep)

Take your money out of AI and into pitchforks. My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/epst...
Epstein’s emails are the end of America as they ruined it
If the evil banality of the world's most powerful people exposed in the Epstein emails doesn't cause a revolution, nothing will.
