Trying soming w/essays. Half the grade=Ss content. Half=Ss peer reviews of two other essays. (I'm sure I stole this idea from one of y'all on #EduSky.) They took the process seriously when they realized I was going to hold them accountable. And I don't have to red ink their papers! Thanks, friends!

I have been teaching research, outlining, and essay writing for the past couple weeks. This is first time some of my 12 year old Ss have had to outline and it is like science fiction to some. We talk about outlining as a time saver. Otherwise they look like this GIF...

Next year my publisher will be issuing a new printing of ‘The Lost Soul of the American Presidency’ that includes a new preface written after the recent presidential election. Needless to say, things have gotten worse.

My Ss are studying the #ElectoralCollege. They conducted a Structured Academic Controversy, created political cartoons, & are writing an essay supporting/altering/abolishing it. I told them, "You probably know more about the EC than most adults." Its sad, but I'm not wrong. #EduSky #middleschool

Walked #FreedomTrail this morning & thought about what @historyherway.bsky.social @historyfrog.bsky.social shared #NCSS2024 yesterday. Only about 7% of monuments have women depicted/mentioned. As I walked, I saw no monuments with actual women. Only personifications of womenly ideals. Hmm... #EduSky
