DeBrincat goal was just mean. Crank a shot off the defenseman, get the rebound, crank it off the goalie's mask and in. Injury to insult or something.

Tonight on Ken Burns's American Revolution, Rick Atkinson is going is going to tell you:

"Muskets are mostly inaccurate beyond 80 yards...so a lot of the killing is done with the bayonet... this is really eyeball to eyeball."

The trouble is, this just isn't true. 🧵1/16

#OTD in 1945, ADM William Halsey ordered over 1,000 carrier-based aircraft to perform a flyby so that the immense Allied naval airpower in the Pacific could be photographed for Operation Tintype. His surface fleet had been photographed days earlier during Operation Snapshot.

This is starting at younger levels too (middle school). Because of state testing, small chunks of text are preferable to the higher level and more challenging articles/book excerpts. All because that’s the way the test is.
It does occur to me that, in reducing our reading requirements across the board (which seems near-universal at this point), we are sort of shying away from a big part of what makes *our* fields hard (or "hard"). I fear we've kind of conceded to STEM that only they can make high demands of students.

The Tigers scored 34 runs this weekend, the most we've had in a series since plating 37 at Houston in May, 2013.

#OTD in 1945, USS Aaron Ward (DM-34) was pummeled by six kamikaze strikes near Okinawa. The crew battled against raging fires and exploding ammunition to keep the ship afloat. A kamikaze propeller can be seen lodged in her superstructure, just forward of the 5"/38 guns.

What a night. The benches cleared and Tarik Skubal was in the middle of it; He and Hinch defend his early exit; Riley Greene makes baseball history with two 9th-inning homers and the Tigers have 21 wins...
Riley Greene hits two homers in ninth inning; Tigers top Angels, 9-1
Riley Greene is the first Tiger to hit multiple homers in the same inning since Magglio Ordonez in 2007.

Just incredible that a sitting Senator can say something like this with every expectation that such comments will not be grounds for bipartisan calls for his immediate resignation or removal from office.
Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs chair Sen. Ron Johnson says that 9/11 was a "controlled demolition" and there has been a "cover up" of massive amounts of evidence, many "questions" need to be answered:
jeez louise -- Sen. Ron Johnson and Benny Johnson suggest 9/11 was an inside job and Johnson says he wants to hold hearings
