Interesting article on continuing resistance to the plain language movement and why the term #plainlanguage itself may be the problem. I’ve thought for a long time that “plain” isn’t the best adjective for writing that’s clear and concise. It makes the writing sound boring, even though it isn’t.
This week in the #EditorsWeekly, Tracey Anderson discusses the resistance to plain language, and asks if “plain” is the problem.

I'm enjoy drawing with graphite, but seeing colourful art like this makes me smile and I find it hard to turn away from it
“Gustave Flaubert.” Pastel on paper. #art #artsky #painting #painter #pastel #blueskyart

Sort of looks like the French writer. 😂 I’m a big fan. Did this in the summer. 😊

Is your writing blocked? "Getting Unstuck" is the theme of a workshop I'm leading on Sat, Sep 13 (9:30-11:30am), at the Write on Bowen Festival of Readers & Writers.

Cross the ocean to a Pacific island (i.e., hop the ferry to Bowen!) for this inspiring weekend.

Hey, #Editors & #WritingCommunity! 👋🏻

I've just topped up the scholarships for all my self-paced courses again!

There's a limited number of scholarship spots for editors and writers from marginalized groups.

They're first-come, first-serve, no questions asked.

You only hear ‘ulterior’ when it comes to motives.

If you read ‘lo’ you’re probably about to ‘behold’ something.

‘Echelon’ seems to only be at one level: the upper one.

If you’re confronted by ‘asunder,’ odds are it’s been ‘torn.’

#Drawing for fun and stress relief this week. My photo reference is from the '70s children's storybook "The Little Duck" by Judy and Phoebe Dunn, in which "Henry" waddles off the porch of the farmhouse where he was raised to meet his forever duck in a nearby pond.

Initially, ‘grammar’ wasn’t restricted to language, but described learning in general.

This included magic/astrology.

The Scots altered it to ‘glamer’ to mean “magic spell/enchantment.”

Now, it means “a mysterious/exciting attractiveness."
