This is something I've been thinking about a lot, so it's fascinating to see some actual data on which types of internet content are bad for us.

Short answer: don't watch short video feeds like TikTok or YouTube shorts! Even Twitter has it now.

Kyoto Animation adapting a Shonen Jump manga was something I never expected, but RuriDragon is actually right up their alley.
Can't wait to have my favourite studio adapt one of my favourite manga!

Between Crunchyroll intentionally making their subtitle format worse, Amazon Prime adding AI dubs to their anime, and half the web manga industry using AI translations, it's really killing my enthusiasm for the mediums.

At least I have plenty of reasons to learn Japanese though.

The summer 2025 anime season ended a few weeks back, but I watched a bunch of great anime so here's a quick thread with some thoughts:

Great news, I hope they take their time with this one!

Akane-banashi is getting an anime at last!
This is one of the best things running in Shonen Jump right now, and the trailer looks pretty great.

Finally! This is one of my favourite romance manga because they have legit good chemistry together. Hope the anime is good!

This is a fun surprise! I like the manga, which is by the same author as Fullmetal Alchemist.
An anime by Bones feels right!

This doesn't have as strong a hook as FMA, but give it some time and it develops a similarly large cast of strong characters with conflicting motivations.
Fullmetal Alchemist creator Hiromu Arakawa's Daemons of the Shadow Realm is getting an anime by Bones Film!

The Spring 2025 anime season is wrapping up, so here's a thread of my final thoughts.

I recently finished Blue Prince, one of the most captivating mystery games I've ever played.

I say "finished" but I felt like I'd finished it at least twice before but it turned out there was another layer of secrets to uncover, so maybe it goes deeper and nobody's found it yet.

This week's Mono episode is once again answering the question "what if Laid Back Camp had really good animation" and I love it.

Over on Twitter I saw a lot of people complaining about what won Anime of the Year at the Crunchyroll Awards for the last 9 years.

Some people were posting what they would have chosen instead, so here are my picks!

There are still a lot of anime from these years I need to go back and watch though.

Detective Comics 622-624 is the best Batman comic I've read in a while. It's a layered narrative, full of both in-universe and meta commentary on Batman (including those intentionally ridiculous covers). But crucially it's also just a gripping, well-told story in its own right.

I left Duolingo when they set out in this direction. Language is the way humans communicate, and I want to learn from humans, by humans, about humans. AI should have no place in this as far as I'm concerner.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for "help the quiet kid feel included" stories, but Mono episode 2 was just delightful!

I guess Afro really has a knack for writing relaxing, gently wholesome, and surprisingly funny stories about finding ways to enjoy and explore the world around us.

It's time for a new anime season thread!

This is one of the most packed seasons I've seen in a while, and I'm legit concerned I will overreach and watch too many shows.

The Switch 2 looks like a decent console with some good quality of life features, and I want the new Mario Kart! But if games cost £75 it's a really tough sell...

But Nintendo Online has finally justified its price tag by including Pokémon XD, which otherwise costs a fortune.

I finished Flower and Asura. Ayano Takeda can write a good school drama with compelling characters, but it sticks close enough to Sound Euphonium's themes that you inevitably make the comparison. It just makes me realise how much Kyoto Animation's delivery adds to these stories.

Great news for fans of the anime adaptation. Blue Box is a very slow-burn story, but season 2 will provide some pay-off.

I did not expect Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, a show about the development of heliocentrism, to become one of my favourite anime from recent years, but here we are.

It's a gripping drama about discovering what you're willing to dedicate your life to, even if it costs you.

I got 8 episodes into Girls Band Cry before realising it's written by Jukki Hanada. That explains why I'm enjoying it so much.
That and the delightfully characterful 3D animation.

When a popular manga gets an adaptation often the reaction from anime-onlys doesn't match the manga fanbase's hype. Obviously the manga readers are further into the story and are more invested, but having seen some mangas I've read go through this I think it's more fundamental.

Yes!! The Link Click subs are notoriously bad, so this is the only way to watch it. And it's been a pretty good dub in the past.

Being extremely behind on my seasonal anime is finally paying off...
The English Dub for Link Click: Bridon Arc (Season 3) premieres tomorrow, February 21st, streaming on Crunchyroll.
