Holy moly! @springernature.com is out of control. Bad incentives because they made $2,690 publishing paper 41. Add it all together, they've made $110,920 from these 41 retracted papers — no refunds!
This is quite funny:

Remember how Springer Nature decided to retract nearly 40 publications based on a ‘bonkers’ and unethical autism dataset? www.thetransmitter.org/retraction/e...

Well, they just today published a new paper using the same dataset! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Throwback to 2012: "We may look back years from now and see more clearly how OA was responsible for drawing scientific publishing away from scientists and academics, and putting it . . . in the hands of funding bureaucracies and government officials."

The digital revolution also failed science.
thinking a lot about this piece i wrote almost two years ago and how much worse things have gotten just in that period of time.

i feel like the constituency is growing for a counterrevolution given how shit the tech companies and their effort to force full digitization on us are making everything.
The digital revolution has failed
The benefits of the internet are eroding. The AI boom is only accelerating their demise.

Why not use AI to do all the academic frauds at once? The lies of “Project Rachel” become more extreme. @utoronto.ca @manchester.ac.uk

LLMs from @nejm.org and @jama.com failed to recognize retractions, hallucinated others, and didn’t comport with scholarly norms.

Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.
