actually I'll clarify this to say it resonates with poor whites that live among non-whites. folks who live in segregated places tend to believe propaganda more & are more hateful. that's the purpose of segregation - you can't dehumanize somebody as easily if you see they're a lot like you
my grandma talked about this for years. Of course, Jackson was an offshoot of Fred Hampton, but I still believe in my heart that when ppl talk honestly about racism in America, & acknowledge class issues as well it always resonates strongly with poor whites. And we know racism adds another layer.

FYI Farmville was segregated thru 89 (not uncommon) bc the private school above the trailer park was segregated as well (illegal at the time) thru like 89. the other day when "most famous person from my HS" thing went, I thought about how Moton HS (Civil Rights museum now) was my 7th grade school
My biggest Jesse Jackson memory is the '88 campaign, when my grandma & step-grandfather watched the DNC in their trailer, a trailer that had been in a segregated neighborhood in Farmville, VA for many years (trailer park was white, housing projects thru woods was black, until around 88 or 89 tbh)

the bluesky bluecheck quote dunking on an obviously ignorant ass twit screenshot is a lazy & corny af genre of posting imo. but it plays big with the rubes (algorithmic trend watchers).

going to the open mic hosted by @fievel42.bsky.social on Wednesday night, & I am just gonna ask one person for a page number 1 thru 129, & another person for a number between 1 and 9, and then read that haiku on that page and that will be my poem for the night

I am rewatching Curb Your Enthusiasm and I cannot think of a more disgusting couple to imagine having sex than the Larry David's wife lady & RFK Jr. It is reverse erotica.

Sorry, I'm gonna keep reposting this. I chose years back to work outside traditional poetry publishing processes, so for many, that makes what I do less legitimate. Their loss. Doesn't have to be yours too though.

so 1000 arrests a day is the unwritten quota?
A stunning detail the ICE chief shared in this hearing that was supposed to be a brag, except it isn't: ICE has arrested 379,000 people between Jan. 2025-Jan. 2026 -- but only 8,700 were suspected gang members or known suspected terrorists.

That's 2%! www.huffpost.com/entry/latest...

while I'm thankful for them bc they keep my economic head above water, my patreon earnings have pretty much been static for like 5 years. I am a pretty shitty marketer, or a shitty artist, one or the other. maybe both.

hanging with my older uncles at like 10-12 in the parking lot on weekends was formative. lol I felt so grown. but these folks were mostly sober. I made the transition to getting fucked up at the arcade pretty quickly (lol at 12).
Anyway speaking of whether being a cracker or a hillbilly I'm showing this documentary in class today and pretending that it doesn't speak to my own experience to the extreme degree that it does www.folkstreams.net/films/parkin...

highlife legend Ebo Taylor passed away over the weekend. I'm glad he got his international flowers in recent years. there is an earlier more stripped down version of this track with him singing, but good lord I have always loved the fuck out of this version. rip
