Just reposting this: Wilders (PVV) may have lost seats, but combined the Dutch far right is still as big as ever. Only down by ~1 percentage point since last elections.
Dutch election coverage focuses on Wilders' (PVV) loss of parliamentary seats. Fair enough. But if we zoom out, the combined far-right vote share is down just 1.2 percentage points since last time. I plotted some data below:

On my way to Groningen. To try the famous 'eierbal', of course. But also to present work in progress on the radical right in legislative committees at the Politicologenetmaal 2025.

Yes, false. I checked this with LISS Panel Data some time ago: social democrats don't flow to the far right much. Not now, not in earlier elections. (old WIP plot, might need to resuscitate this at some point..).

Great advice by @catherinedevries.bsky.social on breaking down bigger research projects. For my fellow grads: 4 years ago I would have felt guilty not sitting in front of my screen. Over the years I've realized that my most productive moments are spent away from my screen.
😶‍🌫️ You’re not blocked. You’re just trying to write the whole thing at once.

🧵 about writing, Einstein & big projects.

Prompted by great Q @dirckdekleer.bsky.social: How do I break down a big project into writing tasks that feel manageable?

Farmers are protesting in Westminster, what might the political consequences be?

Our research on farmer protests in 🇳🇱 provides some clues.

osf.io/preprints/os...

Bottom line: due to popularity of farmers + media bias, this likely creates major political headache for Starmer government.

🚨NEW PAPER ALERT 🚨

Together with @dirckdekleer.bsky.social & @simonvanteutem.bsky.social, I wrote a paper about public opinion about climate protests in 🇳🇱

We find a bias in public support for & tabloid reporting on protests, favouring farmers over climate activists 👇

One of the most striking charts from our paper imo is this one:

The vast majority of Economics PhDs at top-ranked programs have a parent with a *graduate* degree - particularly among the American students.

That is, we are drawing from an extremely narrow socioeconomic pool.

Learned a lot summarizing
@acooperman.bsky.social 's new APSR
