A small oval beach stone that is dark burgundy in color hangs on a necklace made of small glass beads in shades of deep burgundies, blues, and teals. Five dangly earrings hang from a thin twig. The earrings are shaped like jellyfish, with a large glass bead at the top and smaller glass beads hanging below in colors of blue, green, yellow, and purple. A purse charm made with a large limpet seashell and a variety of beads hanging from a silver chain around the strap of a handbag. Three different window charms made from shells and sea glass, found on a beach in Port Townsend WA, are hanging side by side. Each shell and sea glass is hanging below a vertical line of colorful glass beads that complement the shells and glass.

Yesterday's post reminded me of this model (ca. 1988), hand-plotted and hand-cut on sketch paper. The graph is
Re[(x+iy)^4] = x^4 - 4x^2y^2 + y^4.
Used it a few times over the years when teaching multivariable calculus, but it's too fragile to pass around.

Another one from my series of diffraction curves artworks - this time it is a photo of the canvas print!

Placed the print so light illuminates it from the left, at a very small incident angle. So, near the left edge the shimmering texture of the canvas is visible.
