there's lots of great discussions to be had about this piece from grace, but the thing I want to hone in on for prospective critics is that she is doing the work, and by that I mean she is reminding us all that criticism is a conversation
While games criticism will always exist in one form or another, its diminishment as a profession hurts everyone involved. @gracemachine.bsky.social on the space's decline:

i think Grace is a phenomenal critic. I also think that she misreads Kaile’s piece pretty hard. i hope she’s okay with me saying that because even messy dialogue is important for critical spaces to flourish. i’m grateful this exchange had a chance to take place at all
