Wow apparently there IS a better political strategy than throwing trans and Palestinian people under the bus to appease centrists.

Have no idea who put this pristine copy of 11 late-career Frank O’Hara poems—copyrighted by the estate and compiled by Ted Berrigan in 1974—in a little free library box on Cooper Square. But, I think I’m going to hold onto this one…

Bluesky people! Watch this video in which my husband @jiweinste.bsky.social discusses PrEP outreach as part of PrEP Aware Week 2025. So proud that he’s an ambassador for this initiative, which will save lives and help destigmatize conversations about HIV. #PrEPRevolution #PrEPAwareWeek2025
Hello friends! I’m a New York State “ambassador” for PrEP Aware Week. These amazing drugs prevent folks of all genders and ages who have sex from becoming infected with HIV. But with health care under attack, we must fight for access. #PrEPRevolution #PrEPAwareWeek2025

I was so glad to write an exhibition text for Jon Setter and his fantastic new show of photographs, “Sydney Beaches: Saturated Edge,” which is up at 8 Wall Gallery in Sydney until November 1. You can read what I wrote here: 8wallgallery.org/exhibitions/...

This is so damn scary. The book claimed that Jeffrey Epstein was the one who introduced Donald and Melania. Now the CEO of Harper UK is out.
In other news Charlie Redmayne, the long serving CEO of HC in the UK, resigned yesterday.

Cops affiliated with @amtrak.com are using Sniffies to lure gay men to Penn Station bathrooms, arrest them, and in certain cases, turn them over to ICE. This is entrapment and no one should stand for it. www.them.us/story/nyc-pe...

As the new semester starts, I want to keep the focus on the ongoing genocide in Gaza (and US complicity in it).

Honored to have the chance to co-write this with another parent whose child was suspended from Barnard/Columbia for protest activity.

Columbia punished our kids for protesting against the genocide in Gaza. We condemn the university’s cowardice
We are the parents of students who faced disciplinary actions for pro-Palestine activism. The struggle for liberation will not end with suspensions and expulsions

Can't wait to drive around town in my pick-up with two trans flags out the back, breaking traffic laws, breaking my muffler so my celebration is louder, daring the haters, honking my horn

Also perhaps an example of when the review is more liberated and potent than the music itself....it indeed does happen.
So glad that @pitchfork.com publishes pieces like this one by Jesse Doris, which—like the Terre Thaemlitz music under discussion—provokes thought and offers proof of free speech's power at once. End the genocide in Palestine. Support writing that tells the truth: pitchfork.com/reviews/albu...

Wow. The University of Chicago, a world-class institution whose humanities faculty in the past has included Homi Bhabha & Lauren Berlant & Ralph Ellison & Hannah freaking Arendt, is getting rid of basically every graduate department involving the acknowledgment that other cultures & languages exist.

Wonderful to see this. Essex was my cousin (his father Warren was my uncle) and though I only met him a few times as a young person his spirit has always inspired me. Good time to check out this remarkable performance with other DC artists.

At a time when public schooling is under attack, a group show considers how we educate our students—and how students can fight for their education. Daniel Felsenthal reviews a recent exhibition in Brooklyn, on view through August 17.

Here’s a personal, precise, anger-making analysis that examines a group show as clues and cues that unravel the terror and sadness of surveillance-state education. I can’t recall "art writing” quite like this. Bravo Daniel, and Baffler.
For @thebaffler.com, I wrote about the surveillance state and education in the U.S., and how an incisive group art show in Brooklyn is affectionately, indignantly, sorrowfully taking stock of education’s history and status quo thebaffler.com/latest/down-...
