I am currently listening to the book American Dirt. Two third into the book and I like it so far. I also just happened to read about the controversy surrounding this book. Many of those criticisms appear to be childish.

As a parent of a autistic person, I often get to visit the school where kids with disabilities go to learn academic and life skills. I have always known life is unfair, but how some people have everything stacked against them. Like the couple who have all their three kids going to this school.

I reread Nehru's Tryst with Destiny speech. Naturally, I am biased and I was moved by his words and wisdom. He wasn't too bad for a non-native speaker, I guess.

And made it.
Got into the last round of interview for a special job within the company.
The previous round had about 20 people in the interview panel and they had to vote for candidates. I am surprised that I survived that round, as only three candidates were selected. September will be an interesting month.

It appears to me that for some people the former GDR is a business case, most of them being immigrants or expats (as they may call themselves). I wish these people simply googled the plight of guest workers in the former GDR and stopped romanticizing the past.

There has been some posting here that a Die Linke MP was assaulted by the Police. The sources appear to be sketchy and none of the German mainstream media have covered the same. Is it fake news?

Something that seems to be emerging in Germany with generational change is a new kind of GDR nostalgia that is no longer connected to lives experience but a kind of fan culture based on an internet curated mishmash of contextless imagery and state produced texts.

I walking back to my apartment after parking my car along the streets. A guy approached me and asked me to help with moving things from a truck, which was full of furniture. I told him I can't as I had an online meeting in 15 minutes.

Different technologies are shipped at different rates by different societies. For example the mRNA technology was not resisted in Europe as much as some parts of the world.
Personally, robotaxis aren’t high on the list of things I care about, but the larger point of the article is an important one: “a technology that is starting to feel humdrum in Guangzhou or Phoenix still seems like science-fiction in Warsaw or Rome.”

We have been interviewing fresh PhD candidates for a position at our company. These smart people grossly underestimate the challenges in the transition from academia to industry.
