Downside of living in Europe is that when YouTube tells me the good news that a musician has two concerts NEAR MY CITY, it could still mean I have to cross two country borders to get there.

Life has been quite busy. Productivity is down and I am focusing on our racing game (more info coming soon!)

However I do keep making concepts and commissioning new sprite work for the monster tamer project! Here’s a sneak peek!

I didn’t make the lineart, but I’m starting to get the hang of coloring and shading! This is so addictive, I was experimenting with different brushes and lighting techniques.

Any tips for shading creatures?

Gamescom had some traditional artists on the floor selling their work. I purchased an art book and some printed media. Happily surprised what was on offer ❤️

I suck at drawing so I pass poor concept art along to a proper pixel artist and get quality results :D

I asked @v3x3d.bsky.social to do a 8x8 monospaced font with special ligatures and all the required characters for German, French, Italian, Spanish, and English.

Did a wonderful job despite the constraints I laid out. Good, clear comms, great result!

We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers.

The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.

NL 🇳🇱 makes it inconvenient to relocate to. You don’t qualify for anything, you’re 8 years in the queue for social housing, you haven’t been (self)employed long enough to rent private.

Almost 1 year in and we stagnated. No place or nursery.
I miss UK healthcare. The NHS is awesome. Great for kids.

It's been a tough month for me. Quite straining and barely any dev time, but I'm to celebrate a few victories:
1. Bought a Raspberry PI 5 and a domain
2. Self hosting a website and git server
3. My son now sings A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay (he's 2!)

Still figuring out how to do my own cloud...

You may know that in Pokémon NOT evolving them may make them learn moves earlier. Eg. Charmander learns Flamethrower 4 levels earlier than Charmeleon, and 8 levels earlier than Charizard.

However gen 1 being gen 1, Fire Spin is learned at level 46, 56, and... 55.

I recently shared some stat that we're spending 30% CPU on finding the distance along a spline, what if we preprocess it into a LUT so we only check 5 line segments?

Do I add redirection and reduce the LUT size merging cells, or allow hash collisions so that I have ~15 segments instead of ~5?

Hinted at before, #Galecrest is the obvious next step for #Crestling. Developing its body and its abilities, their beak has changed shape to be more predatorial.

Could there be another stage?
