My friends, what the Trump regime has unleashed on America is intolerable. It is time — beyond time — for a national civic uprising. We must take action. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/a-bigger-threat-to-free-speech-than

What does a civic uprising look like in reality?! It looks like a General Strike. Everyone stops working. Pausing the economy. Stealing back the power and smashing the political power of our currently elected and unelected leaders.

I think a way to inspire people to consider the General Strike as a viable action we need to feed the imagination of what we all can and will need to be doing during the strike. All the different ways we will need to spring into action. How we will protect the vulnerable, feed and defend.

We have to actively prepare our communities to strike. This means becoming reliant on each other rather than corporations.

Free fridges, community potlucks, food distribution, community gardens. Direct cash resources to help people pay bills, childcare, etc.

Pro(tester) Tip:

If you march at a busy intersection, use the crosswalk and erupt in thunderous noise as you cross. Then, let cars go, wait for the next signal to erupt again. Repeat

Blocking traffic gives police an excuse to stop you, _and_ letting cars go gets the word out to more happy drivers!

I believe a General Strike is our best chance at a peaceful offense against this fascist regime. Hit them where it hurts. Stop the economy, steal their power, smash their influence. The Strike would be the easiest part. It's what we do DURING the strike is what will be important.
Here’s the thing about a strike: we can’t call one until we’re ready. If we do, the government will know to just wait us out. We won’t be able to last as long as we need to to be successful.

And this doesn’t just mean everyone needs to sign a strike card. There’s so much more.

Thanks. Everyone seems mad at me again (as usual...from both sides).
We did a "soft release" on this CS show (first in 3 years)so that those who never unsubscribed from the feed and REALLY wanted this got first crack at it. They got that. So here's the link:

In 25 years of covering national security, I’ve never seen a story like this: Senior Trump officials discussed planning for the U.S. attack on Yemen in a Signal group--and inadvertently added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

What I snagged from this conversation was that we humans are at our best when we live outside of our comfort zone and that if we are going to defeat authoritarianism in our society, we have to break up with the authoritarian in our own selves.
