Bundle up! With a massive, possibly record-setting storm bearing down on a large swath of the U.S. this weekend, I thought I'd curate a wintry mixtape for your (indoor) dining and dancing pleasure...up now at Digby's Hullabaloo.

Wasn't expecting to enjoy "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" (HBO/MAX) as much as I am. Much lighter in tone (at least so far) than "Game of Thrones" and its first spinoff, the dreary "House of the Dragon". Perfect escapism for fantasy-adventure fans (especially just now, if you know what I'm saying).

Some of the 2nd Amendment worshiping MAGAs who are reaching for the smelling salts over Alex Pretti (who had a permit to carry) being armed may not be old enough to remember this. But I am. @shannonrwatts.bsky.social

Bovino continously referring to Pretti as "the suspect" on "State of the Union" is beyond the pale.

Wesley Addy ("Marty McDonald" in WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE) had memorable supporting roles in two of my all-time favorite films: KISS ME DEADLY (1955) and NETWORK (1976). A long and interesting radio, movie, and TV career. #TCMParty

Kash Patel posted any photos of a bullet engraved with "Fuck ICE" yet?
January 24, 2026 at 7:07 PM
Not officially confirmed yet, but I counted 11 shots.

Seems like overkill.

This is what makes your brain explode. My entire life the right has been caterwauling about needing to be armed to defend against the jackbooted thugs of the federal government.

I never really believed them but anyone who does after this is a fool.
I have spent my entire adult life being lectured by Republican politicians and conservative legal movement types about how important it is to preserve the sacred constitutional right to self-defense of *specifically this person* and then secret police murdered him in the street
Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara says that the victim was a 37-year-old white man and US citizen with no criminal record and that he was a legally permitted gun owner.

Who the fuck says "Red China" anymore?

Greg Bovino, apparently. 🙄

Chip Roy to Jack Smith: "My colleague Scott Perry literally had his phone taken away from him, in front of his family! [...] You are clearly targeting American citizens for merely being conservative."

Is Chip OK w/ ICE thugs taking American citizens' phones away for merely filming them in public?

Jack Smith's clarity and brevity in the face of such vacuous, self-serving bullshit is something to be admired.

PBS News Hour did an 8-minute segment tonight w/ multiple guests on Trump's efforts to fire Fed governor Lisa Cook, and nobody would go near the elephant in the room.

Until the segment's outro graphic.

This is known as burying the lede.

For years, I was only familiar with the "edited for TV" cut of THE TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE. The first time I saw the uncensored version (on VHS in the 80s) I was chagrined to discover much delightfully profane pentameter I'd been deprived of in the line readings, which really sing. #TCMParty

Fun fact: 99% of the Epstein files remain unreleased by the DOJ, 32 days after the due date set by Congress.

Meanwhile, the DOJ wasted NO time launching "investigations" of Democratic Minnesotan officials for simply doing thier jobs and a handful of protesters who yelled in a Minneapolis church.
January 21, 2026 at 1:22 AM
If shouting in a church is a crime, a helluva lot of preachers would be on death row.

Good article here by Raquel about TCM's MLK Jr. Day programming this year, which looks like wall-to-wall excellence. I'm especially interested in James Baldwin’s documentary I Heard It Through the Grapevine (1982).
Tomorrow @tcmtv.bsky.social celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day with an excellent lineup of civil rights themed films. Everything from features to shorts to documentaries.

Check out my article that accompanies the programming: www.tcm.com/articles/now...
