Petula Clark Les James Dean. 1964. Motorcycle noise, harmonica, sung in French, she wrote it. What a lady.

Oh my, reading this review by @andrewmale.bsky.social has done me no favours! :) No, I said a few weeks back. No need. I have a perfectly decent copy. Listening to my crackly copy I'm thinking, I have to buy it. Jeepers though, what a fine album.

Supermarket book stand. Lovely. There was a Mrs Palfrey too. There is always a Mrs Palfrey. But I have that. Blessings.

Doing some dead stocking at work. Some things don't date well, write well, read well.

...there were a dozen rooms, one promised nosebleed techno, the other acid jazz...

Teeth grinding...

A lovely find today. I've read a few of the stories in it, not all. Perfect.

One of my favourite articles in a magazine this year was the psych/hip hop piece in Shindig! (it got angry letters if i remember). Some albums i was familiar with, some not. From a couple of years back, this got a mention. I play this a fair bit.

Been listening to Subway Sect (the new Vic single is fab btw), so it fits i listen to Mr Bennett. This is a tuppenny ha'penny reissue of 57 album The Beat of My Heart. But what a line up. Art Blakey, Al Cohn, Nat Adderley, Herbie Mann, Milt Hilton, someone called Spencer Sinatra on flute...

NP Lucy Reed's second album. Gil Evans had a had in this one. Barry Galbraith is here, Art Farmer, and Romeo Penque plays flute. Lucy only made three albums. One in 56, 57, and 1992! Less is more.

Sun just came out. Trunk soundtrack afternoon I think. Sometimes, I think Dudley Moore may have been a better musician than comedian. Or just absolutely incredibly good at both.

Musical twins Paul and Barry Ryan were born on this day in 1948. Paul wrote this song and Barry sang it. It’s a bold and brilliant slice of gothic pop. The accompanying film is rather excellent too.
