The US supported Modi tlhinking he will open up the Indian market to US companies. Except they never read RSS economic thought which can be summarized as:
1. The Indian economy should be hermetically sealed from the rest of the world
2. Economic production should be reorganized along caste lines

It seems the US plans to create a buffer state in South Asia between Bangladesh and Myanmar are coming to fruition. Big L for "Chanakyas" Modi, Shah, Doval and Jaishankar.

Fascinating Planet Money episode on how George Soros broke the Bank of England and forced UK to devalue the Pound. One of the main actors, Scott Bessent, was then an analyst at Soros' Fund and is now Trump's nominee for Treasure Secy.

Nehru was probably one of the most woke Indians of his time, perhaps even more woke than Indians of today. Hence the irony...
A new form of protest. According to the Spectator these jackets are being worn by Cotswolds men as part of part of "a wider, anti-woke narrative that takes against the frenzied, hand-wringing of institutions such as the National Trust." www.spectator.co.uk/article/why-...
There’s something smug about a Nehru jacket
Men's fashion shops like Joah and Sirplus seem to sell a lot of Nehru waistcoats and jackets. What’s the meaning behind this Indian clothing?

BREAKING: In an unprecedented move, more than 75 Nobel Prize winners have signed a letter urging senators not to confirm Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as head of the Department of Health and Human Services.

It's the first time in history that Nobel laureates have come together to oppose a Cabinet choice.

The billionaires are out in front, let’s not sell T••••’s brigands short
...especially because the Trump admin looks like such a mirror image of the Modi regime...ie a projected hardline authoritarian, a focus on cultural majoritarianism, and actually controlled behind the scenes by capitalist billionaire cronies.

Even in the 1980s, India has a domestic industry which manufactured things like electrical appliances, toys, tools etc. Much of it was shoddy but still 100% Indian. Today all these goods are Chinese imports.
I wear something called barefoot shoes. Available for 500-700 bucks on Aliexpress, incl shipping, if allowed.

Same, unbranded, is sold for 2700 on Amazon by resellers. And 3300 by one brand that has managed to get an independent foothold.

It's worse in electronics.
Made in India label is a laugh.
