The lively direction of Hawks, fizzy script by Charles Brackett and Billy Wilder, and comic chemistry between Stanwyck and Cooper come together to produce one of the most sensational comedies of the forties.

Listen Kaine, Hassan, King, Cortez-Masto, Durbin, Shaheen, Rosen, and Fetterman. You're NOT gonna take away my 2025 election joy. We voted in that election for folks to FIGHT for us. That doesn't include YOU.

YOU are what we voted AGAINST last Tuesday. So I'm gonna hang on to that.

Small-town murder mystery about a brooding film noir type who monologues about "their town" like they want to have sex with it, as one does, but instead of wanting to fuck the idea of Los Angeles or whatever they're horny and repressed for the concept of a village with a population of 3000 people.

Since 2020, I have been fighting for mail-in voting and the GOP has been fighting against it. A critical court case is now going before the U.S. Supreme Court. I can assure you that I will be there fighting hard to ensure every lawful ballot counts.

And as a fight for public opinion, it was working. It wasn’t getting the GOP to the table to negotiate an agreement, but that was never going to be possible. The GOP doesn’t care about Americans’ welfare, and doesn’t respond to normal political incentives. The shutdown fight showed that.

The Dem cavers’ “the shutdown wasn’t working” message shows how much they still don’t understand the current GOP. They still think this is a negotiation with relatively normal political actors. As @joshtpm.bsky.social says, it’s actually a fight for public opinion.

You didn't get a vote. You got a "promise" of a vote. From a party who is disappearing nannies & gardeners and zip-tying children. A party who has flushed Due Process in America down the toilet. Who has subjugated its Congressional duties to an autocrat. That's what everybody sees, Tim.
