We feel utterly hopeless while government agencies are decimated, thousands lose their jobs, and life-saving programs are gutted at the whim of a Russian stooge and a ketamined sociopath. We need our party leaders to meet this moment with at least -some- of that gut-wrenched fight.⤵️

I’m calling today to express my strong support for marriage equality and to oppose Michigan Rep. Josh Schriver’s resolution urging the Supreme Court to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges.
The right to marry the person you love is fundamental, and same-sex and transgender couples deserve the same legal protections as everyone else. Rolling back marriage equality would harm families, undermine basic freedoms, and put countless Americans at risk of losing their rights over 1,000 laws that confer rights, protections, and benefits affecting our family, health, taxes, and death are applied to married people. Overturning Obergefell v. Hodges is unconstitutional as a deprivation of the equal liberty of persons that is protected by the Fifth Amendment as well as the Due Process Clause and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution.
I urge [Senator/Representative’s Name] to publicly oppose any efforts to challenge Obergefell v. Hodges and to stand firm in protecting marriage equality.
