ottoline was always meant to be a juxtaposition of male vs female elements: her desired femininity with the stereotypes of her higher pitched voice and baby-faced; meanwhile her position, physique, and demeanor and even her name (otto, which is generally male) exudes a more masculine presence

for example; aurora tackles themes of femininity, motherhood, womanhood, (in some cases) religion. For me when i make decisions as small as gender it can completely alter how I write a character!!
