the card game and colors/contrast (looks to be Caravaggio) immediately evoked this soundtrack. I always liked the Spanish style guitar in the film version of Stranger Song.

the songs and film are kind of inseparable:

This Curiosity photo from 2014 was my wallpaper for years. Earth is the lone visible dot in the sky (the moon is visible in the original, but bsky compression will likely erase it)

I'll take it

(book was Call for the Dead, not TTSS, but I take any excuse to post the wardrobe from that film)

after 5 years of putting an album on Spotify, my earnings hit $1 (admittedly it's nothing I pursue professionally).

almost 30 years ago my band sold out of 20 CDs at $5 each at our first show.

I keep thinking about the future depicted in Demolition Man where there are no real songs on the radio anymore, all the music is just commercials.

I'm at the "all I can do is laugh else I'd cry" point with the discourse. but more of a Joker laugh, so crying might actually be healthier.
Been seeing a few people outright claim that studies that outline specific reasons why Large Language Models won't lead to "Artificial General Intelligence" are "whitewashing creationism", because apparently showing that a task isn't feasible somehow affirms the existence of a divine soul

used to love the weird quality of old pixel (6ish?) in night mode with lots of ambient light.

the post processing and longer exposure made everything super flat and pastel-y like a painting

the remixed Westinghouse logo in the other post had me looking through old photos from a Paul Rand exhibit, and found this excellent lowercase 'g'

I can admit bluesky-as-twitter-clone was likely a fine starting point (I'd hoped for a more drastic departure, but onboarding initial waves of new users migrating from the other site with familiar ux prob made sense)

but there's much opportunity to innovate on how we browse network connections
Reupping a 🧵 from this summer:

This product is supposedly about conversations, but it's missing a key feature which highlights the interactions we've had

The most useful tab I could have when viewing your profile is a timeline focused on *our* conversations:

quotes, replies, reposts, likes, etc.
For example, what if MY view of YOUR profile included an affordance which let me chronologically browse the intersection of:

- everything you posted + I liked, or
- vice versa

Would those two be separate timelines, or just a single conversational flow of all our mutual interactions?

Hmmm...

trying to id this typeface at the Monet exhibit in Brooklyn Museum. notable short leg of the 'R' and variable size of 'O' (which I don't like, personally)

(typical me: looking closely at and taking photos of the exhibition wall typography as if it's the subject of the show)

In Zelda 2, a woman appears in each town, beckoning Link into her home. They disappear inside and Link's health begins to refill.

One reddit user recently asked if this scene was *intentionally* suggestive. While that seems very unlikely, I thought I'd look into it.

Did you know the osprey species is at least 11 million years old?
The species is so unique, it is listed in its own genus (Pandion) and family (Pandionidae).
