GA #HB307 just passed through the House Education Committee with overwhelming support! It was strengthened even further by adding literacy coaches—a key component for successful implementation in our schools!

Next stop: Appropriations and then a full House vote!

See these kids with #dyslexia who were at the #Georgia Capitol a week ago? A lot have access to accommodations through Section 504; many will go onto higher ed SPECIFICALLY because those protections exist. AG Chris Carr, drop Georgia from TX v. This paper is now out in Plos Computational— it nicely explains how learning to read recycles existing object recognition abilities, and leads to a precise prediction about neurons becoming tuning to an ordinal letter position code (« space bigrams »)
