I have to admit that although would have loved to have had good views of a Wryneck passing through Goldcliff I was more focused on recording the fabulous set of waders on display. A very poor clip of the Wryneck at the end!

Wild bird populations across the UK are continuing to decline, with farmland species in freefall, according to new figures from DEFRA:
UK bird populations continue to decline as farmland species plummet
UK wild bird populations have fallen by 4% since 2019, with farmland specialists such as European Turtle Dove, Northern Lapwing and Yellowhammer in steep decline, new DEFRA figures show. Farmland birds have dropped by 62% since the 1970s, driven by intensive agriculture, habitat loss and pesticide use. Seabirds hit by avian flu also continue to decline. Woodland species show signs of stabilisation, but conservationists warn urgent action is needed to meet 2030 nature recovery targets.
