With the current administration’s response to what will happen to children left behind if their parents are deported, proposing foster care as a solution, I am resharing an article I wrote in 2017 during the prior administration. Foster care is not the solution!

While there is a call to action in Utah to address systemic failures in child abuse/neglect investigations, there also needs to be one for the 200+ TTI & RTC facilities & wilderness camps. To do so Utah must prioritize child safety over profit.

One has to wonder about the double standard that often exists when it comes to adoptive families particularly when the same agency is investigating that may have placed the child there in the first place.

In general adoptive parents claim that they should not have oversight post adoption as biological parents don’t. I believe that if you receive an adoption subsidy there should be reporting requirements like any other benefit. This is one of the reasons why.
