NHS GP in north Lancashire / south Cumbria. Deputy chair of BMA GP Committee (England) and member of BMA UK Council. Lover of NHS and defender of its founding principles - free at point of use and funded from taxation with minimal large PLC involvement
GPs are being threatened by government if they don’t reply to an online message within a few hrs. However if we diagnose lung cancer, patients wait over 2 months. Where are your priorities @NHSEngland @DHSCgovuk - all patients deserve better but this new attack on GPs is plain wrong

In my BMA role we have issued a statement on the increased use of AI in gen practice. Undoubtedly it may have huge benefits going fwd but we urge caution at moment & will work with NHS England & govt to roll this out safely for GPs & our patients

Sat listening at @TheBMA England #LMCConf where GP representatives meet on behalf of GPs looking after 69mn patients. We need a huge investment from the new govt. NHS gen practice is bedrock of NHS & only receives 6% of the NHS pie. Invest in us & we can deliver. GPs are incredible value for money

Excellent letter in Telegraph today. We are in the NHS family and don’t have customers we can charge more to offset this cost. This will lead to less doctor, receptionist and nurse time. #GPNIBombshell

***BREAKING NEWS***
Today at UK BMA Council this statement of total support for GPs from the whole profession was made about the existential crisis facing us. We cannot increase costs to cover this hammer blow. Wes Streeting needs to announce right now they will cover this
