Felt like rewatching Inglorious Basterds tonight.

I should have learned by now that I can never rely on my first reaction to an Ari Aster film. I usually end up with a different perspective after multiple viewings and listening to some of his interviews. #Eddington is a dense film with a LOT of ideas, none of which are given simple resolutions.
July 19, 2025 at 7:43 PM
A lot of people are going to be so distracted by the specific political issues that #Eddington navigates, that they’ll miss who the real villains of the film are.
July 19, 2025 at 5:20 PM
Because of who the protagonist is, #Eddington is an indictment or warning about conspiracy/conservative/MAGA thinking, but it also calls out hypocritical behavior from (mostly white) liberals. Many people are only focusing on the parts of the movie that they feel called out by. The film is a mirror.

Ofc I’m at the earliest showing of #Eddington at my local cinema it’s Ari Fucking Aster

I’ve been trying to pull away from social media because I’ve noticed that it’s causing me a lot of unnecessary anxiety and wasting my time. It’s been hard to go through with it because I’ve only been able to find people who love film as much as I do online. No one understands my obsession irl.

I love when a new Ari Aster film comes out because not only do we get a new Ari Aster movie, we also get a bunch of new Ari Aster interviews. I love listening to him talk film. #Eddington

Not trying to put down the movie as a whole. I was really vibing with it despite its flaws. Honestly can’t wait to see it again. #Superman
Something we’re definitely going to see is a willful blindness to the new #Superman movie’s many flaws because of a tribalistic need for the movie to be better than other Superman movies.

Like seriously my Letterboxd feed for #Superman has 3 stars, 3 1/2 stars, 1 1/2 stars, etc. from my mutuals. Meanwhile I was so giddy after seeing it, I had to talk myself out of giving it 5 stars.

Mentally preparing myself to become the only person defending both the DCEU AND DCU Superman films.😂
I expected to be bombarded with negativity toward #Superman online, but I thought it would come from the Snyder cultists. So far I’m the only one who was really feeling it in my online sphere. I definitely have some gripes with it, but overall I was very happy.

I think this headline is way off. The plot of #Superman is about fictional geopolitics that have multiple direct and obvious parallels to the real world. Also, we’ve always had supervillains. We’ve always had corrupt politicians, and the rich have always exploited the poor.
July 9, 2025 at 12:00 PM
Not only is #Superman a blast, it’s urgently relevant. A movie in which Superman stands up for the victims of an attempted genocide that the world has abandoned could not have come at a better time. Spread the word. The Summer of Superman is here.

Definitely going to have to vacate the internet for a bit after #Superman comes out. I anticipate that I’ll like the movie quite a bit, but I don’t want to see the mind-numbing discourse that’s sure to come. I’m finding that enjoying things is best done alone, sadly.
