You breed contempt Mr. President, and that’s the second put-down to veterans in as many days, and to those who fought and died in Afghanistan to support you, the US
Trump on NATO: "I've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? That's really the ultimate test. I'm not sure of that. We've never needed them. They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and this or that. And they did. They stayed a little back, off the front lines."

I thought @stephenjenkinson.bsky.social that @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social recommends that pavements should be 2m wide. A loading bay for the new hotel on the west side of Devon Place seems to be allowing a pavement that won't comply. If I'm right, why? I ask as the husband of a wheelchair user.

“Famous families should try resolving their disputes in private” urges the third leader in The Times, which has offered extensive coverage of the Beckhams of the kind one would expect from a tabloid.

For reasons known only to himself, Mark Rutte called him Daddy. Rutte is in the audience listening to this tosh. I hope he feels thoroughly ashamed.
Who called him daddy? What is he babbling about? Why is he talking about Iceland? Am I taking crazy pills?

This hasn’t aged well. Will Farage now be so keen to have a photo opp with Trump at Davos?

How about a statute making a bye-election mandatory if a sitting MP changes party allegiance between General Elections?

I don’t think that His Majesty the King should visit the USA unless its President desists from laying claim to Greenland.

www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... Perceptive piece by Behr. “Keir Starmer’s verbal constipation on camera” is a telling phrase.

The PM won’t call out Trump over Venezuela, and won’t commit to Europe. His refusal to choose leaves vital choices for Britain to be made by others, says Guardian columnist Rafael Behr

Dear cyclists. My gripe is with the City Council not with you. This is an example of what passes for pavement in West Edinburgh. It’s just across the road from an excellent cycle path.
