The paper theorizes athleticide + situates it in the literature on cultural genocide. It also attempts to empirically account for the nature of Israel's athleticide in Gaza. This is, horrifically, an almost impossible task because the atrocities continue to accumulate every single day.

We argue in this peer-reviewed article that 'athleticide' is a modality of cultural genocide, in turn part of a larger genocidal project of eradication, and has been a feature of the US-NATO-funded Israeli state’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023.
