My paper about how to analyze the relationship between a depictive and its possible hosts (i.e. between "Tom," "David," and "drunk" in the sentence "Tom met David drunk") appeared in Masha Polinsky's Festschrift

TIL I learn that the Laz for Istanbul is p'oli, which apparently is just πόλις. (Cf. the old Iron Ossetic word for Tbilisi, Kalak = the Georgian kalak-i 'city')

An almost final version of a paper about how in the course of history of Ossetic, focus movement gave rise to dedicated movement of negative indefinites. It's embarrassing to say when I gave the first talk on this topic...

Found an occasionally formed Georgian verb form 'we had cake' ვტორტაობდით v-t'ort'-a-ob-di-t 1S-cake-?-VBZ-PST.IPF-PL, and realized that I can directly translate it with an (equally occasionally formed) Russian verb тортовничали tort-ov-nič-a-l-i

In preparation to ALT 15 (next week in Singapore). Will certainly use "monkey-proof" as an incorporation example next time I teach morphology

My paper on emphatic negation in Colloquial Russian is finally out in the Journal of Slavic Linguistics (open access). I guess not many can boast of a paper that has the word 'dick' right in the abstract

Do people constantly try to kill you and your family? Is there a very realistic chance you'll be murdered this week? Did someone kill or raped your friends recently? If the answer is NO and you nevertheless blame those who answer YES, you reached Master Gasligher level

Looking for examples of nouns with a defective case paradigm (in any language with morphological case)!

Already have the Russian щец cabbage.soup.DIM.GEN (the only case form this noun has!) and дровец firewood.DIM.GEN (ditto)

My 1st post here ought to be about one of the most famous Georgian poems, Nikoloz Baratashvili's ცისა ფერს ʦ-isa per-s sky-gen color-dat 'Blue color' 'The color of the sky, the color of azure, the color of the primeval creation, and not of this world, I loved since boyhood'

Hope to write it later
