Professional embedded software engineer.
I enjoy photography, electronics and making things with digital fabrication' 3D printers, CNC machines, etc.
I'd like to start documenting some personal projects so I'm wondering where people create such blogs these days. Any recommendations?

It's so hard to say or do anything productive today.

I remember 1976, the USAs bicentennial. I did the math and figured I'd probably live to 2026 and America's 250th birthday. Well, I made it but ... things feel off.

I want to take this to heart.
writing poetry has given me so much experience making stuff no one is going to look at and no one thinks is really worth thinking about. I encourage everyone to work in discarded, "abdandoned", neglected, "low", "unimportant", "irrational" forms, media, etc.; it is liberating, educational, useful

I said goodbye to 2025 by marking every Discord server as read. There's no turning back now.

At the end of the workday yesterday, I was downloading a software package, estimated to take 7.5 hours. This morning it reports a failure and I'm now starting over. Oof.

The new leaf I'm hoping to turn over in the new year is to share more electronics and programming projects. I feel like having a portfolio of shared work will be very helpful. But I didn't get this started over the holiday as I wanted to. Maybe just posting my intentions will help?

Articles of Impeachment would pass today as easily as the Epstein Bill. Do It.

If you don't follow @oddjayy.bsky.social, I recommend him. Especially if you like robotics and mechatronics.
Trying to upload more here since a friend of mine seems to like it very much. Here is a test video of my latest robotic project #maker #robot

I finally decided what I want to make with my Linden Oak. And I barely have enough material. Stay tuned for more. (The Linden Oak was a 300+ year old tree in Rockville, MD, that had to be cut down. I bought a slab of it in the county's urban lumber sale a couple years ago.)

I'm a fan of the PrintKit kits. This particular one was a lot of fun. It's nice to see West3D making these available.

I just saw where Trump thinks the US should rename (American) football so that we can start calling soccer football. This, because he was awarded the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize. So ... hear me out ... The inaugural SI Metric System Peace Prize.

Is anyone I know here planning to attend the Rust NYC Unconference? I got a last minute invite and booked my travel so I'll be there tomorrow. It would be really nice to meet in person if we have the chance.

I think we underestimated this tree! We went to a cut-your-own tree place and chose this one. It's easily the biggest tree we've ever had. The second pic shows an old bird's nest that was still in it before we cut it down.

The plywood bumper saga has concluded successfully. These were more work than I bargained for but they turned out nice.

Update: I found the time and energy to move all the stuff. But the sheet of plywood turned out to be a sheet of insulating foam. I'm out of luck.
I need to make some bumper frames for the HS robotics team. So I need a sheet of plywood, which I have. But it's buried so deep behind machines and other stock that it feels easier to buy a new sheet.
