Just about to board a long haul flight and airline being difficult about the weight of my hand luggage which is mostly #birdinggear Makes me think I need a lightweight superzoom bridge camera to cut weight for such trips.

What’s the best option that balances weight:performance these days?

I’m not the biggest fan of boxing as a concept, but I do think we’re at the point where the only thing that’s going to prove to some people that they aren’t the main character with pro level skills at anything they want is to be punched in the face repeatedly.

69 years later and he is still stealing your cookies and using the same lies.

Cambodia, since ancient times, has been hydrologist, controlling and living by the water. Fish is the main source of protein for Cambodians. Slow climate is much more complex. As a result, fish yield goes down, and the tools to catch fish become more damaging to the environment.

Y’day was contacted by a local birder covering Bkk’s parks. He’d papped a Thrush and wanted my advice on ID. This was something special - quick check of books & editing his pic brought me to the conclusion it was Thailand’s first Pale Thrush - subsequently confirmed by others.

Interesting set of conditions for displacing migrants across NE North America over the last few days serve as a potential insight into the extend that ‘initial conditions’ vs ‘conveyance conditions’ impact vagrancy of American land birds - thread.

Probably the loveliest thread you will read today, full of beauty and kindness and improvised owl physio
Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

Chaps! Do yourself a favour and get a blood test done to have your PSA levels checked. I did last month and my elevated levels triggered off a scan, biopsy and prostate cancer diagnosis. The good news is that is a tiny amount, confined and not aggressive. Seems a good time to urge others to check!

September has been soooo busy that today was my first chance to get to the patch. Pretty incredible therefore that the first two migrants of my autumn were both Brown-chested Jungle Flycatchers - a very scarce passage migrant and red listed as "vulnerable' by IUCN #birding

The combination of the media’s obsession with Farange & Starmer -Coopers’ acquiescence to the far right on immigration, contrasted with @zackpolanski.bsky.social winning the Green leadership has resulted in me joining the Greens. We need hope, we need sanity - let’s see what Zack can do.
