This is gaslighting the American public.

In other words, it's lying. The WH Press Secretary is lying.

The chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee told GOP lawmakers to stop having in-person town halls with constituents. The directive comes as Republican town halls have devolved into angry shouting matches across the U.S.

You know we fought a war to keep this from happening, right?

Allow me to counter Trump's very un-American quote of Napoleon with a quote from one of our founding fathers:

“The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty. A government of laws, and not of men.” -John Adams

Vance spreading lies about our European allies and defending far-right nationalist movements in Munich is definitely... something. History may not repeat, but it sure does echo.

You can't run the government like a business for the same reason you can't run a church or a school like one: none of these exist to make a profit. They exist to serve.

The nature of service is sacrificial and others oriented. This means profits take a back seat to serving. Put people first again.

I am amused, amazed, and saddened at how many good Christian people who were considered "conservative" 15 years ago are now labeled by the so-called right as liberal extremists because they stand by the values they have held to all along.

Having to fight Elon Musk at DOGE before we’ve even battled Trump feels like having to defeat the forces of Saruman first at Helm’s Deep.

The irony of the party that ran on preventing unvetted foreigners from entering the country is standing by while an unvetted foreigner gains access to our most sensitive info is not lost on me.

I used to teach US Government at the high school level. I tutored AP Gov students. Write your lawmakers. What Elon Musk is doing is not only unconstitutional, it's dangerous to our democracy. There are no checks and balances in place. He is an unvetted, foreign-born technocrat with unlimited access.

Elon Musk was not elected, is not a Federal official, and DOGE is not a real agency.

Congress must act.

No follower of Jesus has license to act cruelly toward another person. It does not matter if that person is a believer or an atheist; an American or an immigrant; black or white; liberal or conservative; gay or straight; or anything else.

Say it louder for the people on the right.
If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have profoundly misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.

What I've learned today is that the vast majority of Americans are more concerned with WHO receives pardons than they are with the act of a Presidential Pardon. You can't complain about one guy doling them out and turn a blind eye to your guy doing it. Just admit you're partisan.

Biden's final words to the military as commander-in-chief: "Remember your oath."

We find ourselves in ominous times my friends.

It is such an odd juxtaposition to watch the ceremonies honoring Jimmy Carter, a man whose life is defined by character, and the press conferences of the President-elect who is rambling about taking over sovereign-nations, lying about Jan 6, and is otherwise incoherent.

Democracy is under attack in Europe (France), Asia (South Korea, and North America (The United States), making a world rife with instability and angst. If we've ever needed Advent, it's now.

Advent is waiting in the dark for the light to come.
It is the night before the dawn.
It is the cloudy sky hiding the sun.
We all know the light is coming, we just don't know when.
But when it comes, there is unspeakable joy.
So we wait, and we hope, knowing the light will conquer the darkness.

I've been watching the new Netflix documentary on Churchill.

1- We are in want of great statesmen today, skilled in the art of wordcraft.

2- We are also lacking politicians who will stick to their principles, even when no one sides with them. Churchill railed against Hitler when no one else would.

Christians should be concerned about presidential pardons, no matter who is doling them out.

Whether it is Biden pardoning his son, or Trump pardoning insurrectionists, the miscarriage of justice is the same.

If there is one thing the prophets railed against it was injustice.
