I don't know whether anyone even needs to hear this but "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" is quite the strangest film I've seen in a long time.

So this, ummm, T5 cricket match is quite odd. Or is it just England's shot "selection" that's odd?

The problem for 40-summat men who don't know how to dress is articles like this. Why would I trust a writer who admits he might be dressing like Jeremy Clarkson? Who ignores designers like Thom Browne, Terry Singh and Marc Jacobs and then laments the choice in men's clothing?
‘What the hell should I wear?’ The style challenges of a fortysomething man
The certainties of youth are slipping away and I find myself in something of clothing identity crisis. It doesn’t help that what’s ‘cool’ is increasingly hard to pin down. So where does that leave an ...

Good to see that my beloved L'OM are not going to be any more consistent than last year.

Playing against 10 men for an hour, and being caught on the break every few minutes, Marseille managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by conceding a goal in injury time.

I can't believe we're relying on a one-armed man to save this cricket match.
August 4, 2025 at 10:47 AM
Whatever happens in #EngInd, I think it still shows that test cricket is still the premier form of the game.

Like, Pickled Onion Monster Munch in a dayglo packet* has its place, but there's nothing like a chef-prepared three course meal.

* this is a subtle reference to The Hundred obviously

So our hopes rest on Josh Tongue (average 6.60) and the one-armed man from The Fugitive.

Memo to England's lower order:

If the ball isn't going to hit the stumps, it's okay to leave it. You don't need to hit six boundaries in an over to finish the game off.

The thing about this England team is that the chance of us polishing off these 50+ runs in five overs and the chance of us being bowled all out in five overs are fairly equal.

I'm starting to think that with "The Fury", Brian De Palma invented TikTok. Every 30 seconds of this film is a random event, unconnected to the 30 seconds immediately before or after it. It's more stream of consciousness than Inland Empire but only half as coherent. 📽️

Except now I make them in Ableton Live and they take me on average about 90 hours each 😱

I've never understood why a social network needs DMs - we already have apps for that, and they provided better controls than slapping messaging into a social network - but this article explains why agreeing to the Ts&Cs for using Bluesky's DMs is A Bad Thing.
