When my sister and I were young my family would watch Seinfeld but my parents would have to screen which episodes were PG friendly. Sometimes they missed one and would hurriedly pause the dvr before our innocent minds were tainted.

Happy NaNoWriMo! (Or Novel November, or whatever we're calling it now.) My book (which started as a NaNo project) is currently available on BookSirens for free until Dec 9th. Early reviews have been incredible so far! Download your free eBook here: booksirens.com/book/QKOIMPO...

Apologies to my followers I'm going to get annoying and post marketing things for the next month or two.

I keep getting emails to rate my anesthesiologist and like, look man, I’m not sure how I can do that given I was asleep the whole time.

LOOK GARY THERE I AM. I didn't even pay for this promotion. Though I hope being bundled with a bunch of romance books doesn't accidentally skew my readers into expecting mine to be romance.

"I'm gonna do NaNoWriMo this year" is probably not the best idea when I'm relentlessly marketing my last novel and interviewing for jobs, but screw it you can't stop me.

Haha I'm gonna be so burnt out.

Pdfs for my paperback and hardcover are complete! More work than I expected, but it was fun. All those years messing around on Photoshop really paying off. I wouldn't mind making covers for $$$ but I don't want to spend a ton of effort marketing my side gig to my side gig.

Sowing: "I'll just design the front for now. I'll extend the design to the back later."

Reaping: "Well this is a lot of work."

I have really underestimated how popular vampires still are. I was under the impression that they were a passed fad when I wrote my book.

Logged in--in PUBLIC--to Twitter for the first time since I left and literal top post is legs wide open, see it all porn. Great. Thanks for that.

Things no one tells you about writing: Every now and then the typo fairy pays your manuscript a visit and puts in a typo that wasn't there before. You won't catch it until you hit "Publish."

It’s been less than 24 hours since I announced my call for ARC readers on my Facebook (that I barely use) and the outpouring of support and interested people has been so amazing 🥹

Of course anyone who wants to be an early reader on here is welcome as well! Let’s keep it up!

“I was worried 5”x8” paperback was going to be that tiny size, you know the bargain bin book size? But then I measured one of my books and 8” is pretty big.”
“Yeah that’s long enough to pleasure.”
“I considered going up to 9” but then you’re sacrificing girth for length and we don’t want that.”

It's a pet peeve of mine when people go "Oh you should do film making/video games" at new authors who have certain strengths/flaws to their writing or grew up preferring those mediums. Like film/video games require a ton more time and/or money to make a complete product.

Outside of formatting and a last round of proofreading, my book is complete! Now I have to shift into annoying marketing mode.

"Is this too childish and vulgar for my book?" vs "This is how 30-year-olds actually talk."

Amazingly enough, after all my rewrites, my total word count dropped 3000 words. I thought for sure it would be higher than my first draft, but I guess I cut about the same as I added. Good sign, means I paced it well.

Canceled my subscription to The Washington Post after the election and instead started reading The Atlantic and The New York Times. Don't regret it, but man. Their advice columns are so much worse than WaPo's.

While I still have some early draft materials from the sequel, I think I'm going to change gears and work on something non-vampire related next. Vague plan is to do some outlining while I work on marketing this book, and then slam out another book in a few months.

Dear lord I am so close to finishing these rewrites. Then I'll have a big re-read, do some prose editing and proofreading, and THEN I'll be done. I am so ready to move on to the next book.
