Hey, just an #introduction.

I'm Dan the 3D Printing Dad. As the name implies, I like 3D printing.

However, you might also see lots of bunnies on my feed.

I do some design work. Here is Raquel the Raccoon, a model I made a few years back that I'm rather proud of.

I LOVE hoodie weather; it's like I'm getting a constant hug from my clothes.

Who else loves their hoodies?

Are mini-XLR cables really that much of a specialty item? It's easy to find balanced stereo cables with XLR to 3.5mm TRS, but I'll be darned if I can find the equivalent with mini-XLR.

OK, seriously. Since when did a multi-color TPU print look so good? I mean, it required dry TPU and an OK profile, but this was a single nozzle with no AMS.

Happy Friday. Here's some stupid latte art I've made in our oat milk lattes the past couple of days.

Finally got around to printing with some recycled PET from 2 liter bottles made with my #Recreator3D by @joshuartaylor.bsky.social. This is a part I designed along with other parts to a protective case for an FTC driver hub.

This video by Xyla Foxlin is important. First, she helped raise awareness of a crisis in the FAA. Now, she and others are looking to help resolve the crisis.

Please consider taking fewer than 10 of your minutes to watch this.

Dude. This video by Zack Freedman rocks and it helped me solve a mystery I had struggled with ages back. I think you'll at least find it intriguing, if not highly informative.

made a lil meet-the-artist bio!

i wanted to try to draw it in the same style/with the same techniques as my oldass illustrations from 2004ish. it was fun to draw something that harkens back to my old art!

I'm sorry. I'm hopeless. Normally, this yellow jacket wasp would be a real pest. However, it was super sleepy due to the chill in the air and landed on one of our plates after we had finished eating dinner outside. My wife and I let it chill and enjoy some leftovers.

We know we will ultimately be unable to save this bee. It will succumb to the cold and lack of food soon enough. However, we help because it is kind to do so.

Be kind to one another, even if you think it's a lost cause.

OK, I wasn't disappointed. This was a fun video to watch. (I know, I'm a nerd.) It gives me a much better understanding of why certain motors might be used in some applications, and why all this time later, we really haven't gotten past stepper motors in most 3D printers.

Look at what my wife and kids got me for my birthday - 3.5kg of gifts!

2.5 kg of Trader Joe's chocolate and 1 kg of 3D-Fuel PCTG!

I can't wait to watch this tonight!

It's my birthday! If you want to give me a gift, here is my wish list:
* Smile and say "hi" to a random person
* Perform an act of kindness to someone in need
* Forgive someone that has wronged you
* Check in with a loved one
* Reestablish a connection with an old friend

Mad respect for those who can make latte art. I'm really not getting good at it.
October 6, 2025 at 1:39 AM
I went to a well-known coffee chain for a latte, because I was away from home and couldn't make one.

The milk was warm, but there was no microfoam. It was essentially hot milk with espresso.

I'm spoiled. I like mine better. 😅

No, AI will not program the next big thing. It won't solve all our problems.

But it did help me troubleshoot some frustrating xbindkeys issues.

Dang. STEP files can look pretty darn good in a recent version of @freecad.org .
