Regardless of what the professor’s thoughts on this might have been, this is just ridiculous. Supporting theft of artwork and replacement of living artists is unconscionable.
Really quite disheartening and disappointing to see the Tolkien Society hosting a discussion on “AI in fantasy filmmaking” this year at Oxonmoot.
It feels about as morally and philosophically opposed to Tolkien’s work as a talk on the benefits of deforestation.

If someone says something really problematic or discriminatory and your first instinct is to call them “fat” or otherwise body shame them rather than address what they said…maybe you aren’t as good of a person as you think you are.
