Father to a tweenage child, Husband to a Dutch wife. And I will complete my todo list in this life or, more likely, the next.
Also saw people blame the fire at the Vondelkerk on immigrants, rather than, you know, the €129 million spent on fireworks. Or even waiting until actual experts investigate the cause.

My New Year’s resolution, after years of having the same one, I’ll be changing this year. 1920x1080 it is.

I’m still a little disappointed we didn’t get the cheese. For a brief shining moment, I believed in the Wedding Cheese.

I honestly think the Dutch should start this tradition up.

Who agrees? 🧀🇳🇱 (5/5)

a candle. So it’s probably good to pause here for a quick lesson in Dutch for the uninitiated:

Kaas = Cheese 🧀
Kaars = Candle 🕯️

To the untrained ear, they sound similar. Well, that’s my excuse.

Of course, a candle symbolizes light and love. It makes perfect sense for a church wedding. But...(4/5)

It actually made a lot of sense. We’d even visited a cheese factory on our first date! So I was ready. I was prepared for this noble, sturdy, slightly nutty and, I assumed, heavy tradition.

Then came the big day. My mother-in-law walked in. She wasn't holding a cheese wheel. She was holding. (3/5)

I imagined a giant 120kg wheel of Edam 🧀. I figured we’d be eating it for the first 6 months of wedded bliss.

Guests would visit, and we’d say, “Ah, yes, have a slice of the wedding cheese.”
I’m not even a huge cheese fan, but hey, the Dutch are big on dairy farming. It seemed logical. (2/5)

Have you heard about the Dutch 🇳🇱 tradition of giving cheese at a wedding? No?

Neither had I.

But back before our wedding, my future mother-in-law told me she was getting us (or so I thought) a cheese for the ceremony. I was immediately charmed. (1/5)

I remember seeing the video of this for sale in, I think Hong Kong or Singapore. The title was translated to ‘the man who came from England’.

+1 for York. But there’s so much.
Edinburgh. North Yorkshire coast - Holy Isle. If you’re looking for outdoors, then you’ve got the Lake District, Peal District or the Dales. If you’ve got transport then a drive around Scotland is nice. City break then Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Newcastle.

If you were ever thinking about unhooking yourself from US tech…
Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!
Getting off US tech: a guide
I’m in the process of dropping US tech services. Here’s how I did it, and options you should consider.

It sounds like an interesting article to be fair. Perhaps the the AI is just quoting the article from the future. You’ve not written it yet, but if this hallucination then inspires you to write the actual article. What does that mean? 🤔
