If #NetZero is the simple but complex slogan to define the story of where we want to get to with #ClimateChange - where the carbon cycle is brought back into balance - what’s the equivalent story slogan for sustainability? #CircularEconomy? #NaturePositive? Or is it too complex to reduce like that?

Watched Olusoga’s remarkable BBC series ‘Empire’ this weekend. Too accustomed to the history to be shocked, but still learned things. Very much recommended.
Was quite noticeable the extent to which high quality drone footage is now being used in television too!

Well, this was a delight. Rather than eventually getting round to reflecting on last month’s #ALTc event in Glasgow in a solo-written blog post, I got to talk about it in company on a podcast instead! Join me, Puiyin, Tamsyn and James as we take a look at #ALTc25.

While agreeing in the round,
I've found this (below) both reassuring and highlighting of the need for constant vigilance. There is no perfect end state. See if you can see where the 'thousand year reich' occurs (also, that Roman Empire lasted quite a while).

The blueprint for winning big on climate also came out last night. No more technocratic, policy wonk approaches. People showed they care about utility bills, free buses, affordable housing, etc. These are all climate issues. Talk about climate in terms people understand and experience.

So much this 👇🏼.
We are all so badly in need of a collective mindset shift, but are currently too concussed by our feeds and how to scrape by in the overwhelm of the Anthropocene.

The most insanely frustrating thing about the #ClimateCrisis is how the breakthrough we so clearly need isn’t technological. It’s just a collective willingness, a determination even, to change in ways that would clearly be SO MUCH BETTER than the clear and obvious consequences of NOT changing.

This article describes the trajectory of AI as essentially bad for people, whichever way it falls. AGI = mass job layoffs. AI bubble burst = takes down the global economy. Trying to imagine which outcome would take down the Trump Admin, if either.
so @matteowong.bsky.social & I wrote on data centers: arguably the most important buildings in the world & are, in a way, holding the economy hostage. Byzantine financial instruments, private equity, depreciating tech, hype, $trillion valuations. it’s all there. an ai crash prob starts here.
