Romi Gonen, Doron Steinbrecher & Emily Damari are home after 471 days in Hamas captivity on the 1st day of a long awaited ceasefire.

Emily is British-Israeli & many in our community have followed her story closely.

May this ceasefire hold & all hostages return home.

Very important thread:
There is not a single Israeli reporter, analyst, academic or commentator that I know of, who thinks that Netanyahu was "simply waiting for Trump" to take the same deal that was on the table in May 2024.

According to the latest poll from Channel 12, 71% of Israelis support a hostage deal and an end to the war.

Among Netanyahu voters (hard to believe there are still some), 56% support it, while only 24% oppose.

Messaging on pro-Netanyahu media has become strongly pro-ceasefire with Hizbollah.

Channel 14 has gone from supporting an endless war to supporting a ceasefire and calling it a “break”.

The public are in favour but his voters are not, so propaganda is coming in handy.
The non-stop pounding of Beirut in recent hours is most likely an attempt by Netanyahu to sell the ceasefire agreement that falls far short of what he promised Israelis.
