As some of you know, I've been holding off on getting Hytale until I found out if they used Gen Ai but this is a very promising post from the art director π

We can't prevent community of creators from using Gen AI, but in Hytale art team we really have strong ethics and feelings when it comes to it. We value tools that truly help artists being creative and improve their Workflow. As you know this isn't what Gen AI does, it hurts more than it helps.

The dinos now actually spawn!
But more importantly! You can place torches while holding a pick, backpacks are easier to get, and the range for chest detection on workbenches has been doubled!

I do hope that Hytale will finally tip Minecraft over into adding vertical slabs. Not to mention how people have been decorating with shelves in Minecraft.

It's more like 3D Terraria or blocky Valheim. The Minecraft elements mostly begin and end with it being a voxel sandbox game. It's much more exploration focused than vanilla Minecraft. Ruins to explore, monster camps to raid. So many more mobs, both passive and hostile.

After day 1 of Hytale, it's definitely a fun game. It's kinda like Minecraft, in that it's a voxel game, but with all the QoL mods built-in, but then also with the mini-biomes and exploration-based RPG elements of Terraria.
