all i've been saying for the last year is that press tours are the new movies & ppl are finally starting to write about it. press tour is the release. everyone is cutting the hair on mannequins, watching their old shit, or testing how well they know their co-stars. none of it gets ppl to the theater

Because CGI has become the solution to every problem, I wonder if the last 20 years of Superhero movies would be better or worse if they didn’t have computers. Muppets require an audience buy in, CG doesn’t in the same way. They let dull people take it seriously without questioning the fantastical.

You know, if most posters don’t credit their actors, and most marketing doesn’t really help or hurt box office, then there’s really no point to hiring famous actors to be voice talents in animated movies.

Eddie Murphy said he was offered WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT? It is hard to imagine that version of the movie because of the racial politics that would be introduced.

I think part of the reason LGBTQA issues have become such a sticking point in our culture is a lot of people who identify as straight have had gay sex and don’t think they are gay for it and get super mad at the idea of it. “Just because I gave my friend a hand job with my mouth…”

One of the fascinating things about A BETTER TOMORROW - similar to A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS, but different - is that it’s not a good movie. It’s just that it’s there. It’s like watching Paul figure out “Get Back” outta thin air. It’s just 90 minutes of figuring it out for the five minutes.
