There is a general alignment between poor education outcomes and right wing thinking. But such intellectual deficiencies surely mean they should take the easier idea to understand.

How does the logic in ‘Kick out foreigners so we have more money’ make more sense than ‘Hang the rich factory owner’?

There was a #miniatures painting contest over on the #DropfleetCommander FB group. I don't normally go in for a 'ships in space' Yamato vibe but it seemed like a nice opportunity to paint something different. If you're going to have a flat-top in space why not go the whole hog? Here's the Ark Royal!

While this looks very much like the chimney on an oil or coal-fired ship, given that this is supposed to be an advanced spacecraft this is more likely some sort of magnetic radiator using cobalt dust or droplets which can be recovered after venting. The main engine array has a large 'DANGER' hazard warning painted on it, to ward off any light craft who manoeuvre too close to danger. Work continues on the #Gaslands Secret Santa. Using hairspray chipping for much of the rust weathering. Needs a matt varnish then mud and smoke and soot weathering to finish. Hope whoever gets her likes it!

Time for some #Gaslands #miniatures methinks.

Today I wanted to share my favourite #miniatures #terrain project. A wrecked 10mm airliner for the #scifi #wargame #DropzoneCommander. This was a lot of fun, and inspired by the long-overgrown wrecks seen on Pacific islands. Again a subtle #Thunderbirds nod with the Air Terrainean paint scheme .

Since my #Gaslands #Thunderbirds mashup went down well, here's the other part of it! Terrorbird 3.

And what's that it's docked with? Who could possibly say! But it is the biggest thing I've ever made for Gaslands. So big that as a #miniature it's more like scenery than a usable vehicle!

So two of my nerd loves are #thunderbirds and #gaslands and the first ever team I built for the game is a mashup of these two settings. Team International Wreck Crew features Terrorbirds Two and Four, and the Mole! These #miniatures were built from a Matchbox transporter and #HotWheels cars.

The largest, Terrorbird Two, is a heavily converted car transporter with massive jet engines down each side, a large rear spoiler, and a futuristic raked cab at the front. Terrorbird Two is painted in green, with red and yellow accents, and a large white number two on the side of the trailer. This is clearly inspired by the iconic Thunderbird Two. In front of TB2 are the Mole and TB4. The Mole is tracked 1960s style small gas-tanker with an enormous tunnelling drill head at the front of the vehicle. The cab has been moved to the rear, and sits behind a set of massive exhausts. It is clearly inspired by the Mole from Thunderbirds, and is yellow with red accents and blue mudguards over the tracks. The third vehicle is Terrorbird 4. This is a version of Thunderbird 4 built from a Hot Wheels Adam West era Batmobile. It has added thrusters at the rear, and an array of tools and lights sticking out the front. The roof has been closed off with wire mesh and extra roof panelling. Like Thunderbird 4 she is bright yellow with red accents and a large number 4 on the side. All the vehicles show significant wear, with rust, chipping, and weathering from desert sands. You can clearly see the slat-armoured windows and large exhaust stack, as well as orange hazard lights and the heavily worn and battered green bodywork. The barrels are held in place with heavy duty cable ties and the whole thing has a somewhat ramshackle post-apocalyptic feel. I don't paint much orange, but this #gaslands car was a pretty fun little build and paintjob.
A converted Hot Wheels car for the Gaslands post-apocalyptic racing game. The car is a two-door coupe, with a large blower on the hood, a heavy-duty plough/ram on the front, and a quad missile launcher on the rear. The windows are replaces with mesh grid, and extra armour has been added to the front windshield and hood. The front of the car is vibrant orange, which blends to charcoal at the rear around the middle of the vehicle. The blend is like a hexagonal digital transition rather than a soft fade. There are spots of charcoal at the front, and the odd orange spot towards the rear. A prominent number '10' is on the car door in white with a black background shadow. The front ram is painted with bright black and yellow hazard stripes for added contrast. The car has scratches and dents in the armour and looks as though it is mid-race. Sometimes my #miniatures #wargaming takes me down a historical/pseudo-historical route. Here’s some of the vehicles from my #TeamYankee British Berlin Brigade. This camouflage took a good 3m of masking tape to make work but I’m pleased with the results, especially at 1/100 15mm scale!

Any #BattlefleetGothic players out there in the #Wargaming community? I built this ship as a centre point for an ongoing #40k RPG but she’s also serving in my Imperial Fleet as the Exorcist Grand Cruiser ‘Divine Providence’. Made by kitbashing some Battlefleet Galaxy kits she was very fun to paint!

A Warhammer 40,000 Grand Cruiser for the BFG tabletop game. Made by Battlefleet Galaxy and painted by me! She has an ivory hull with a sharp green prow and green playing around her engines. The ship is bedecked with golden domes and detailing. Scores of raked gun turrets sit atop large open plan hangar bays for attack craft. As with all 40K BFG Imperial ships, the Divine Providence looks like a Cathedral had a baby with a Dreadnought era battleship and launched it into space. This photo is a close up of her bridge and citadel superstructure. You can clearly see the gothic stylings of her architecture including flying buttresses and communications towers built into spires and campanile-style towers.

This was an attempt to build a screen-accurate Buggy no.9 from #MadMax Fury Road. Though this was a Corvette rather than a Perentti copy!

The wheels are caked in sand while the black bodywork is chipped and dusty. Patches of rust are all around the nose and door. In reality the Perentti was fibreglass, but rust was painted on for the film. The car is crewed by two warboys with palid white caked skin. The driver has a black bandana and the gunner on a raised buggy seat at the back has a red scarf on. Another photo of a heavily converted Hot Wheels Corvette, made to look like Buggy No.9 from Mad Max Fury Road. This time the car is facing left and forward, and the camera is up high looking down at the engine and front lights. You can also see the half-height windshield giving some protection to the driver, and the cutaway doors for easy entry and exit. The engine is heavily converted as the hood has been cut away to reveal it, including a large circular air cooler, some hodgepodge wiring, and eight extremely sooty exhaust pipes like spider legs bent to the sides. A third photo of my heavily converted Hot Wheels Corvette, made to look like Buggy No.9 from Mad Max Fury Road. This time the car is facing away from the camera, aiming off to the left, and the camera is up high looking down at the rear of the vehicle. You can see the gunner's seat much more clearly and how it is integrated into the trunk of the car. The warboy is very prominent, and his palid skin is caked in ceremonial white makeup. He is aiming a large machinegun and is wearing a red bandanna around his neck, and black trousers. The car has patches of rust around the wheel well, to copy the vehicle as seen on screen. The rear lights have all been smashed out and the numberplate is missing. The original Buggy No.9 car from Mad Max Fury Road. This is a photograph taken in the desert after several days of shooting. The car is caked in dust, and the black paint has worn away revealing the original red fibreglass bodywork underneath.

Hi Bsky. Made my way over here from hostile shores. I make and paint minis, write RPG stuff, and design board games. I fluctuate between posting pics and ranting about the state of the world. Here are some of the former; various vehicles I've built for #gaslands the #postapocalyptic racing game.
A photograph of a miniature six-wheeled open top stretch limo made from a Hot Wheels car for the Gaslands miniature game. The car is inspired by Nemo's limo from the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie, only reimagined for the post-apocalypse. The front has a large jet intake, and silver skull ornamentation. The car is creamy white, but stained with dust and soot and grime from the road, giving it a look like aged bone. The Captain and two crew are sat in the back in blue uniforms which contrast sharply against the cream and silver of their ride. A Hot Wheels scale Matchbox London Bus toy, heavily converted and painted for use in Gaslands, the post-apocalyptic racing game. The bus is in the classic TFL livery, and is bright red. Large machinegun turrets are on the sides, painted like the TFL roundel. The bus is covered in barbed wire, and the windows are covered with mesh and tarpaulin. On the upper deck, the conductor is looking out of a periscope made from a CCTV camera, while his colleague on the back step has a rifle to stop fare dodgers. Both wear hi-vis jackets to contrast with the dirty and dusty red bus. Extra armour has been bolted to the side, including rusty corrugated plating. The bus has an advert along the top deck which reads "When London feels like Hell, Stay Safe with TFL". A miniature ekranoplan made for the Gaslands tabletop game. The vehicle is a hodgepodge of scrap parts, joined together to create a jet powered aircraft that is skimming along above the ground. The parts are a mix of soviet helicopter in desert camouflage colours, and a white central section with tiles like a space shuttle, inspired by the Buran project. There is writing in Cyrillic on the side of the cockpit, and the whole vehicle has 'Mad Soviet Scientist' vibes like something you'd find in a Red Alert game. A Hot Wheels Landrover converted for use in Gaslands. The Landrover is now a robotic hermit crab. Its blue and white bodywork is the soft crab, while it's shell is made up of marine detritus including a boat hull covered in barnacles. There is a strong contrast between the blue 'crab' and the damp, natural colours of the shell, which also has bits of fishing net, chain, rusty steelwork and ocean scrap lodged in it. The crab has two yellow eyes made from headlights, and two large claws that look like industrial cutting equipment.
