Sad to leave the Bay, but I won’t be going far. Taking a step back, though, the US having both the Bay Area and the PNW so close to one another is insanely OP.

Corollary to this is that if somebody tries to apologize to you for “how you feel”, they are being insincere and you should expect very little from your interactions with them.
It’s not an apology if you aren’t willing to admit you did something wrong

Headline accordingly

Something I hate when using Cursor is, sometimes, it will randomly delete some of my code, for no reason

Sometimes removing an entire feature 😱

I once pushed to production without being careful enough and realized a few hours later I had removed an entire feature ...

“Minced oath” goes hard
I know why! I looked it up recently!

It turns out that "sacre bleu" is what linguists call a minced oath—a cutesy rephrasing of a swear to make it suitable for mixed company, like "Oh, fudge!"

"Sacre bleu" is the "gosh darnit" version of "Sacre Dieu!"—Holy God. Which is why nobody says it anymore.
however I also have to report a very sad thing which is that based on my experience the french person who says sacre bleu does not exist

The share of all US tech jobs located in California continues to drop and has now fallen to the lowest levels since the start of COVID. The last time the Golden State made up this small a share of nationwide tech employment was mid-2013.

Describing LLMs as “basically SQL” is pretty silly. By analogous logic, you could say A* is “basically SQL” since it’s “just retrieving” a sequence of edges. Nobody actually would describe it as such because that’s ridiculous, but people make precisely this mistake with LLMs.

Wonder if Elon’s foray into politics will echo Moses’ 1934 gubernatorial campaign. The two bear interesting resemblances in general, for instance in temperament and mutual preference for automobiles over mass transit.
